UPC Version A Barcodes

There are two types of UPC barcodes: version A and version E.

UPC version A symbols are by far the most popular. They can be recognized by the two notches, left and right, that include 5 digits each. The human-readable digits are arranged in a 1-5-5-1 pattern.

The 1-5-5 is the company prefix and the item number and the last digit in the lower right corner is the UPC check digit.
